Egypt Celebrates the Centennial of Global Singing Legend Charles Aznavour with Two Grand Concerts
Egypt will host two extraordinary concerts honoring the 100th anniversary of Charles Aznavour, featuring Lebanese singer Ghassan Yammine and Nile Symphony Orchestra, under the patronage of the French and Armenian embassies.
The organizing committee of “The Century Tribute – From Me to Aznavour” announced the staging of two grand concerts in Egypt 🇪🇬🎶, on December 7, 2025, at Cairo Opera House and December 9, 2025, at Alexandria Opera House, celebrating the centennial of global singing legend Charles Aznavour ❤️.
The announcement was made at a press conference attended by media representatives, cultural and diplomatic figures, with Hadi Abboud, event organizer, highlighting the cultural and artistic importance of the event in strengthening bridges between nations. Abboud noted that the tribute goes beyond honoring Aznavour as a global artist; it celebrates the human value of art and his creative legacy 🌟.
Lebanese singer Ghassan Yammine will perform in both concerts, presenting a unique musical experience of Aznavour’s works, accompanied by Nile Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Mohamed Saad Basha 🎻✨. Yammine expressed his joy, stating:
"I’ve loved him since childhood; he was part of our daily life. I was lucky to meet him several times… what drew me first to his songs was the lyrics, even before the music." 🎤
Yammine is known for singing in multiple languages including Arabic and French. He gained fame from the program "Studio Al-Fan" and performed classics by Fairuz, Umm Kulthum, Abdel Halim Hafez, in addition to Aznavour’s works, presented in a comprehensive artistic project 🎶.
The press conference also highlighted the life of French-Armenian artist Charles Aznavour, dubbed "The French Frank Sinatra", born in Paris in 1924 and discovered by legend Édith Piaf 🎼. Over seven decades, he sold over 180 million albums, sang in nine languages, performed iconic songs including La Bohème, She, For Me Formidable, Hier Encore, Emmenez-moi, starred in over 80 films, wrote more than 1,400 songs, and received numerous international awards 🏆, alongside his humanitarian work and support for the Armenian cause ✨.
Organizers confirmed that the concerts mark an important international artistic event in Egypt, as Aznavour’s songs will be presented with full orchestral arrangements for the first time in the country, featuring some of the finest musicians 🎻🌟.
