The defense team of the late musician Helmy Bakr’s son filed a lawsuit against his father’s widow due to disputes that arose between them regarding the division of the inheritance following the musician’s death.

The estate includes several important properties, such as the apartment located at 22 Al-Israa Street in the Mohandessin area of Agouza, Giza, as well as a private burial plot that the deceased had purchased before his passing. It is noted that the musician had advised his wife to visit this burial site after his death to pray for him, but he was actually buried in the family cemetery according to the wishes of his siblings.

The inheritance also contains a fully equipped artistic studio with all musical and artistic instruments inside the mentioned apartment, along with 12 musical ouds, including one gifted to the late musician by the great artist Mohamed Abdel Wahab.

The estate is not limited to that; it also includes a collection of valuable watches and luxury gifts that the deceased received from kings and heads of state, as well as a collection of songs recorded on special records that have never been broadcast before, in addition to certificates of appreciation, medals, and prestigious honors awarded to him by the Presidency, Ministry of Culture, Musicians Syndicate, and several international artistic organizations, adding great cultural and literary value to the estate.
Moreover, the estate includes more than one car, comprising both modern and vintage models.

The lawyer assigned to the case confirmed that Helmy Bakr’s widow married the musician through a legitimate marriage contract dated June 16, 2023, and gave birth to their daughter, Reham. After the musician’s death on March 1, 2024, the legal shares of inheritance were determined among the widow, who is entitled to a fixed portion of the estate, along with the son and their minor daughter Reham, who are entitled to the remaining estate by residuary inheritance with the male’s share being twice that of the female.

The lawsuit revolves around the legal disputes concerning the distribution of the inheritance among family members, amid clear competition over the valuable rights and properties left by Helmy Bakr.
