British media, including the Daily Mail, reported that undeclared ingredients represent a potential health hazard, capable of causing allergic reactions ranging from mild to severe, including life-threatening anaphylaxis.
Tesco Guidance for Consumers
Tesco advised customers with mustard allergies not to consume the product and to return it to any branch for a full refund. The company clarified that the recall applies only to this product and posted notices in stores to inform consumers of the necessary actions, offering apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Allergic Reaction Signs and Health Risks
The UK Allergy Organization notes that severe allergic reactions may include difficulty breathing, swelling of the throat or tongue, persistent coughing, dizziness, and loss of consciousness. Mustard is among 14 major food allergens that must legally be declared on packaging.
