The Nasr City Prosecution has ordered the referral of three unemployed men to criminal court on charges of forcing children into begging and exploiting them for financial gain, in a case highlighting child trafficking and street exploitation.

According to investigations by the General Administration for Child Protection Investigations, the suspects — one of whom has a criminal record — were found to be exploiting underage children by making them beg and sell small items to passersby in the streets of Nasr City.

Police officers managed to arrest the three suspects while they were accompanied by ten at-risk children engaged in begging and selling goods without supervision or protection, exposing them to neglect and abuse.

When confronted, the defendants confessed to the crimes, admitting that they forced the children to work daily in exchange for small sums of money while keeping the profits for themselves.

Authorities have since taken the necessary legal actions, returning the children to their families after signing legal pledges to ensure proper care. For children whose guardians could not be located, coordination was made with social welfare agencies to place them in approved care homes for safety and rehabilitation.
