During the trial of Sarah Khalifa on charges of drug manufacturing and participating in a criminal network, an unusual incident occurred when a lawyer recorded the session, prompting the judge to take necessary measures and document the event officially.
The fifteenth defendant denied any involvement with the seized drugs, asserting he had never seen or handled them, and stated: “I am an engineer and my son is a doctor,” emphasizing his innocence. He also mentioned purchasing a car two weeks prior to his arrest, which coincidentally involved the car seller being present in the transport vehicle, raising questions about the incident.
The court also heard the fourteenth defendant, who denied any connection with the drugs, claiming that his arrest was based on contradictory investigation reports. The defense argued procedural flaws, including the failure to send all seized items to forensic labs.
The defense requested the testimony of the defendant’s wife to clarify the arrest procedure, confirming that around 15 people participated in detaining him at his residence. The defense also highlighted unclear investigative sources and insufficient details on how drugs entered the country, requesting acquittal and invalidation of investigative procedures.
Meanwhile, the prosecution presented the referral order, stating that investigations showed Sarah Khalifa and others facilitated the location, equipment, messages, money transfers, and suspicious movements, confirmed by recordings, seized items, and lab analyses.
In the previous session, Khalifa’s lawyer requested presenting photographs to the investigating officer, which could help reassess her and the fifth defendant’s position in the case.
