The Cairo New Criminal Court has decided to postpone the trial of Sara Khalifa and 27 other defendants in a major drug trafficking case until June 9. The decision comes as the defense insisted on a constitutional challenge, prompting the court to send seized substances for forensic examination.
The case revolves around accusations that the defendants formed an organized criminal network to import raw materials used in drug manufacturing, process them locally, and distribute them across the market in a large-scale illegal operation.
During the hearing, the court listened to testimony from a building guard who spoke about one of the defendants. He stated that the individual had lived in the building for a few months and that his knowledge about him was limited, noting a brief unexplained absence before returning without raising suspicion.
The case continues to draw attention due to its serious implications, with upcoming forensic results expected to play a crucial role in determining the next steps in the legal proceedings.
