Al-Azhar Grand Imam Condoles Qatar’s Emir over Sharm El-Sheikh Traffic Accident
Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, expressed heartfelt condolences to Qatar’s Emir, government, and people following the death of several Amiri Diwan members in a tragic traffic accident in Sharm El-Sheikh.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, extended his sincere condolences to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, as well as the Qatari government and people, following the death of several Amiri Diwan members in a tragic traffic accident in Sharm El-Sheikh. The accident occurred during a transportation trip within the popular tourist city.
The Grand Imam prayed to Allah to envelop the victims in His vast mercy and forgiveness, to grant them Paradise, to grant the injured a speedy recovery, and to inspire their families with patience and solace, citing the verse: ﴿Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.﴾
He emphasized that these condolences reflect the close ties between Al-Azhar and the brotherly nations, showing solidarity and support for grieving families in times of hardship, and upholding values of empathy and fraternity.
It is noted that the accident led to the death of several Amiri Diwan officials, while Egyptian authorities acted promptly to provide medical assistance and transport the injured to hospitals. Qatar expressed its appreciation for the condolences and sympathy extended by Egypt and Al-Azhar.
