The African Triathlon Union General Assembly ๐โ๏ธ๐ดโ๏ธ๐โ๏ธ has officially concluded, chaired by Major General Ahmed Nasser, President of the African Triathlon Union ๐ช๐ฌ, with the participation of World Triathlon President Antonio Arimany ๐ and several international federation officials.
The meeting also included Rick Fulton, Development Director of the African Triathlon Union, and Dr. Nada Moshil, Executive Director of the federation, along with full representation from 35 African member countries ๐ค๐.
During the assembly, officials emphasized the importance of triathlon as an Olympic sport and its growing global presence, especially as it is officially included in the qualification pathway for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games ๐ ๐ฅ.
It was also confirmed that triathlon will be part of the qualification system through the 2027 African Games, which will be hosted by the Republic of Egypt ๐ช๐ฌ๐, marking a significant step for African sports development.
The International Triathlon Union reaffirmed its full support for Africa in hosting the Youth Olympic Games for the first time in the continent’s history, scheduled to take place in Senegal ๐ธ๐ณ๐, highlighting growing international confidence in Africa’s organizational capabilities.
The assembly praised the African Triathlon Union and its continuous development efforts, especially as its headquarters are based in Egypt ๐ช๐ฌ, strengthening the country’s position as a key continental sports hub.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to develop triathlon across Africa, enhance competitiveness, and prepare new generations for international and Olympic-level competition ๐ฅ๐.
