Al Ahly Doctor Confirms: Imam Ashour Out for 6 Weeks After Emergency Surgery
Ashour sustained a serious injury and underwent surgery to insert a plate and screws. He will be sidelined for 6 weeks before beginning a gradual return.
Dr. Moharram, speaking during a phone interview with presenter Medhat Shalaby on the "Ya Masa’ Al Anwar" program on MBC Masr 2, revealed that player Imam Ashour suffered a serious injury that required urgent surgery. A metal plate and screws were inserted to stabilize the injury. He explained that the nature of Ashour’s injury is similar to those previously sustained by teammates Khaled Abdel-Fattah and Reda Slim.
Recovery Timeline and Rehabilitation Plan
Dr. Moharram stated that Ashour will be out of action for approximately six weeks, after which he will gradually return to team training. During this period, he will be prohibited from engaging in physical contact or tackles to avoid aggravating the injury.
Special Program to Learn Safe Falling Techniques
The doctor emphasized the importance of Ashour undergoing a specialized training program focused on learning how to fall properly. This aims to reduce the risk of re-injury, especially since Ashour has suffered similar injuries multiple times in the past.
Match Withdrawal Decision and Injury Severity
Dr. Moharram noted that the extent of the injury wasn’t immediately clear during the match. Although Ashour wanted to continue playing, the medical staff decided to substitute him as a precaution, a decision that proved to be correct and did not negatively impact his health.
