Al Ahly unveils a new talent… Samir Mohamed joins Petrojet to gain experience.
Al Ahly loans young striker Samir Mohamed to Petrojet for one season with a purchase option.
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its youth development pipeline, Al Ahly SC has finalized an official agreement with Petrojet FC to loan promising young striker Samir Mohamed during the current summer transfer window. The deal includes a one-season loan with an option for Petrojet to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
This step falls in line with Al Ahly's broader strategy to provide more first-team opportunities for its young talents across Premier League clubs. The aim is to give them regular match time in a competitive environment, helping them gain vital technical and physical experience. Samir Mohamed is considered one of the club’s promising prospects and has the full confidence of the coaching staff. However, with heavy competition in the attacking department, the club opted to loan him out, hoping he returns next season more mature and ready for greater responsibilities.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly’s first team continues its intense preparations for the upcoming season. The squad is set to play two friendly matches today, Sunday, in one day—a move aimed at testing player readiness and giving as many squad members as possible game time ahead of the Egyptian Premier League’s kickoff.
The first friendly will be held at 6:00 PM against Petrojet at Al Salam Stadium, where head coach Marcel Koller is expected to field a mix of regular starters and returning players to assess their physical and technical form. The second match will take place at 9:00 PM against the Egyptian Youth National Team, also at Al Salam Stadium, concluding the team's preseason program.
These two friendlies mark a critical stage in the team’s final preparation before their league opener. Al Ahly is set to begin its domestic campaign next Saturday evening with a much-anticipated match against Modern Sport at Cairo International Stadium. The game is expected to draw a large crowd and will be a significant test as the title holders look to start the season with a strong statement.
The coaching staff is keen to use these preparatory games to build chemistry, fine-tune tactics, and evaluate squad depth, particularly with the heavy match schedule expected both domestically and in continental competitions.
