Former Egyptian footballer Nader El-Sayed voiced his astonishment at Zamalek Club’s tribute to the late Mohamed Sabry, a former star of the club, after his passing, suggesting that honoring players only after death does not reflect genuine care for them during their lifetime.
Speaking to Karim Ramzy on the “L’b Wa Tania” program on Mega FM radio, El-Sayed said:
"Why did Zamalek honor the late Mohamed Sabry after his death, and where were the club officials while Sabry was alive?"
He added: "Why do we honor stars after they pass away? Our children care about being proud of their parents’ stardom while they are still alive."
El-Sayed continued: "Why did Zamalek officials involve Mohamed Sabry’s children after his death? Some officials think honoring stars posthumously is a proper gesture."
