Ribeiro Finalizes Al Ahly's Friendly Match Plan Ahead of the New Season
Al Ahly continues its preparations for the new season with friendly matches in Tunisia and Cairo under Ribeiro’s leadership.
Al Ahly’s first football team, under the leadership of Spanish head coach José Ribeiro, continues its intensive preparations for the upcoming season through a series of friendly matches aimed at testing the technical and physical readiness of all squad members, while also trying out various tactical approaches on the pitch.
The team is set to play its second friendly of the current training camp in Tunisia, facing Club Athlétique Bizertin next Friday evening in the city of Tabarka. The technical staff is placing significant importance on this match as a key opportunity to assess the team's collective performance and address technical observations that emerged from the first game.
The match against Bizertin marks the final stage of the first phase of Al Ahly’s overseas preparation. Afterward, the team will return to Cairo to continue preparations with two more phases, one of which includes two friendly matches in Cairo against opponents to be confirmed in coordination between the technical staff and club management.
Al Ahly had previously recorded an impressive 4–1 win in their first friendly of the Tunisia camp against Stade Tunisien. That match witnessed strong performances from several young players and those returning from loan spells. Ribeiro also used the game to test players in multiple positions.
This preparation period forms part of a comprehensive plan devised by Ribeiro, covering physical, technical, and psychological aspects to ensure the team is fully equipped for both domestic and continental challenges, particularly the Egyptian Premier League and the CAF Champions League.
The upcoming friendlies are also intended to help the coaching staff evaluate the new signings and their integration into the squad, while also preparing strong alternatives in every position to build a deep roster capable of handling the demands of a packed match schedule throughout the season.
