Al Ahly Delays Announcement of Rivero Deal to Focus on Clinching the League

Al Ahly, led by president Mahmoud El-Khatib, has decided to delay the official announcement of the signing of Spanish coach José Rivero, despite having finalized an agreement with him to take charge of the first team following the departure of Swiss manager Marcel Koller.

Emad El-Nahhas to Continue Until Pharco Clash

Sources confirmed that the decision to postpone was made to allow Emad El-Nahhas to remain in his position temporarily until after the anticipated match against Pharco in the Egyptian Premier League. The announcement was initially planned for after the match against National Bank of Egypt, but the club’s management opted for a delay.

Reasons for Delay: Team Focus and Incomplete Staff

According to the sources, there are two main reasons behind the delay. The first is to maintain the players' full focus ahead of the crucial match against Pharco, in which Al Ahly needs just one point to officially secure the league title. The second reason is that Rivero’s full coaching staff is not yet complete, as some of his assistants are still engaged with their current clubs.

Official Announcement After Pharco Match

The official announcement of Rivero’s appointment is expected to be made immediately after the Pharco game, scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, at Cairo International Stadium. Al Ahly heads into the match aiming to seal the league title in a tight race with Pyramids FC.
