Sources within the club revealed that an Al Ahly delegation, led by Osama Hilal, Director of Contracting and Scouting, completed a successful trip to Europe in the past few hours. During the visit, the official contracts were signed with the new coach, following a full agreement on all administrative and financial terms, which were finalized on Saturday.
🧠 Thomasberg's Background and Link with Emam Ashour
The Danish coach boasts an impressive résumé and previously managed Danish side FC Midtjylland, where he had also coached current Al Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour. This past connection is expected to boost early chemistry with certain players within the squad.
🔁 End of Ribeiro Era, A New Chapter Begins
Thomasberg's appointment comes after a transitional period under Emad El-Nahhas, who took charge on an interim basis following the dismissal of Spanish coach José Ribeiro after a loss to Pyramids on August 30. El-Nahhas is set to lead the team during the derby, while Thomasberg will officially begin his duties before the match against Kahrabaa Ismailia on October 4.
