Torup stated that Al Ahly entered the game with the goal of reaching the final, which was achieved, noting that they faced a strong opponent, especially in the final minutes, but the team remained solid despite missing several chances.
He added: “It was an important win against a well-organized team. We controlled the game for most of the match except for the last ten minutes and were the team with the most possession and created chances.”
Torup highlighted the importance of defense and teamwork in big matches, saying: “Big matches require experienced players, and our defense was solid. We constantly work on improving our physical performance match by match.”
He also noted that the victory boosts players’ confidence: “We scored two goals, and I saw players giving their utmost effort on the field.” Regarding Gradisar, he added that he performed well and was substituted to preserve him due to fatigue, but will be ready for the final.
Torup concluded: “We are accustomed to pressure, both as a coaching staff and as players, and it is always a motivator for success. Our goal now is to win the trophy, and we will continue working to improve our performance to reach the desired level.”
Meanwhile, Al Ahly playmaker Hussein Shahat expressed happiness over reaching the final, saying: “Thank God, it was an important win we needed.
