In the investigation session held today at Zamalek Club in Mit Akba, Ahmed Mostafa Zizo, the first-team football player, presented documents and papers proving his overdue financial entitlements with the club, amounting to 73 million EGP, according to the contract signed between the two parties. These entitlements were a focal point of the investigation, where Zizo highlighted the value of the amounts that had not been paid to him despite the prior agreement on these dues.
During the investigation, Zizo’s lawyer, Ashraf Abdel Aziz, was present, accompanying him from the beginning to the end of the session. A source within the club indicated that Zizo confirmed during the investigation that his overdue financial entitlements amounted to the stated sum, which prompted him to demand their urgent settlement.
When asked about his American travel visa, Zizo responded sarcastically, indicating that he was seeking the visa to visit a friend or spend a summer vacation, and confirmed that he saw no problem in obtaining a US visa. He said: “What’s the problem if I get a US visa? Abdullah El-Said also has one, and I don’t think this is an issue.” This statement came in response to rumors surrounding the matter, clarifying that there was no connection between the travel visa and any intention to move to another team.
Regarding the investigation into his absence from team training, Zizo explained that he did not feel secure within the club after the media campaign against him and the heavy attack from the fans following some circulated statements about him. He said: “The club president told me that he’s not the head of security, and I can’t continue under these circumstances.”
As for the question about signing transfer contracts with Al Ahly, Zizo confirmed that he had not signed any contract with Al Ahly as circulated in some media circles. He added: “No, I didn’t sign any contracts with Al Ahly, and everything said about that is untrue.” This response came to clarify some rumors recently circulated about the possibility of his transfer to the traditional rival in the near future.
At the end of the investigation, Zizo clarified that he had previously requested to undergo an investigation at the Egyptian Football Association, but the club refused this request, which led him to attend the investigation at Zamalek Club today. He confirmed that he remains committed to the contract signed with the club despite the challenges he is facing.
Zizo’s statements in this session reflect several important issues that are currently at the heart of the sports public opinion in Egypt, especially amid the current crisis between the player and Zamalek’s administration. On one hand, Zizo insists on his financial rights, which he believes are due to him based on the contract signed with the club, while on the other hand, tensions between him and the club’s administration seem to have escalated in recent times, raising major questions about his future with the team.
This investigation opens the door to many questions about the relationship between players and sports administrations in Egyptian clubs, especially given the financial crises many clubs are facing, highlighting the need for legal solutions that safeguard the rights of players and contribute to the stability of clubs in the long term.
