Ahmed El-Fishawy reveals a new side of his artistic personality during his conversation with actor Abbas Abul Hassan on the podcast Dialogues with Abbas.
El-Fishawy spoke with genuine emotion about his deep passion for directing and filmmaking, noting that being behind the camera had always been his greatest dream—even before entering the field of acting. He said: "All along, I wanted to be behind the camera, not in front of it… That’s my true passion and the dream I will achieve."

He added that as he grows older, he feels that acting alone is no longer enough to fulfill his artistic ambitions, especially since opportunities for actors naturally decrease over time, whereas directing gives him more space to express his creativity on a deeper level. He affirmed: "If I’m not making films, my life has no meaning… Cinema for me is a passion, not just a profession."

El-Fishawy: I was the first to introduce rap in the Egyptian dialect
El-Fishawy also spoke about his journey with rap music, asserting that he was the first to perform rap in the Egyptian dialect in the Arab world, through his appearance in the film Code Paper (Waraqat Shefra). He explained that his beginnings with rap date back to 1993, when he was 13 years old, as he wrote his own songs and oversaw every detail. He said: "I was the one who started Egyptian rap, and all current rap artists know this and acknowledge it… I used to write and compose rap in my own way."
He pointed out that rap music was closest to his personality because it genuinely expressed his feelings and thoughts, confirming that he has always been interested in music in general, but found in rap a true space to express himself.

When Love Is Written… a new step in his career
Regarding his new artistic projects, Ahmed El-Fishawy spoke about his upcoming film When Love Is Written, which recently began shooting and co-stars prominent actors such as Sawsan Badr and Moatasem Al-Nahar. The film, written by Saja Al-Khalaifat and directed by Mohamed Hani, takes place within a social-romantic framework and portrays love stories and human struggles in a way that resonates with the audience. El-Fishawy expressed his happiness at being part of this work, especially as it carries a strong message about relationships and their challenges.
