Producer Ahmed El-Sobky took to his official Instagram account to mourn the passing of Somaya El-Alfy, one of the most prominent figures in Egyptian drama and cinema. In the official statement, he wrote: “Sobky for Artistic Production and Distribution, producer Ahmed El-Sobky, and all team members mourn with deep sorrow the great actress Somaya El-Alfy. May God have mercy on her and grant her eternal peace.”

El-Alfy’s health struggle began in 2017 following a diagnosis of breast cancer and lymph node tumors, leading to six years of intensive chemotherapy and multiple surgeries. During this period, she underwent seven operations in Germany, the United States, and Switzerland after discovering rare tumors behind the uterus, in the pelvis, and along the spine, which severely affected her mobility.

In 2022, she publicly confirmed undergoing tumor removal surgeries alongside ongoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy for her rare condition. By 2023, she announced her recovery after reassuring medical results, gradually reducing treatment doses and restoring her immune system.

Despite this, the actress continued to face long-term health effects until her passing this morning, marking the end of a journey filled with resilience, dedication, and devotion to the arts, leaving behind a rich artistic legacy that will remain cherished in the hearts of audiences.
