Veteran actor Ahmed Maher has once again criticized Masrah Masr, stating that its performances do not reflect the values of authentic theater and have contributed to lowering artistic standards.

Maher stressed that theater is a cultural and educational art form that should elevate public taste rather than rely solely on quick comedy or loosely structured improvisation.

He explained that improvisation itself is a respected theatrical discipline with internationally recognized techniques, including the Italian school of improvisational performance, and should never be presented without proper artistic foundations.

His remarks came during the activities of the 19th National Festival of Egyptian Theater, where he was honored for his long and distinguished contribution to Egyptian theater.

The festival's opening ceremony also honored several prominent figures in Egyptian arts and featured the visual theatrical performance "Safar", directed by Walid Aouni, celebrating Egypt's cultural diversity and the festival's expansion to governorates across the country.

Ahmed Maher remains one of Egypt's most respected theater actors, known for advocating artistic quality, strong theatrical texts, and preserving the traditions of Egyptian stage performance.
