Ahmed Suleiman, a member of the Zamalek SC board, confirmed that the future of player Ahmed Sayed Zizo remains open to all possibilities, indicating that surprises may arise in the coming days, including the potential for the player to move abroad. This comes amid the uncertainty surrounding his future with the club, especially as his contract is set to expire at the end of the current season.
In television statements, Suleiman noted that Zizo’s return to training with Zamalek was not surprising from his perspective, explaining that there are many details and behind-the-scenes matters that the public is unaware of but are documented and monitored by the board and relevant authorities. He clarified that the player's return to training was expected, and that there is an official file related to Zizo at the Egyptian Football Association and the Disciplinary Committee. Suleiman confirmed that the issue is now proceeding legally.
Suleiman added that the ongoing debate about Zizo's situation needs to settle, urging the closure of this issue in a way that maintains the team's stability and serves the best interests of Zamalek. He said, "I hope we can close the Zizo file; the issue has become bigger than it should be, and everything is possible. We may hear new news about his potential move abroad soon."
Regarding the controversial Cairo Derby match, Suleiman confirmed that Zamalek had previously been penalized with a points deduction in the previous season, despite acting responsibly at the time by officially informing the Egyptian Football Association that they were unable to play the match, due to the challenging circumstances in the sports system during that period. He clarified that Zamalek was not the first club to withdraw from a Derby match, as both Al Ahly and Zamalek had previously done so, and yet regulations and penalties were applied to everyone without exception.
He pointed out that the Egyptian Football Association has adhered to applying the laws in these situations and has not backed down from them. Suleiman emphasized that following official procedures has always been the best solution to handle such crises, stressing the importance of respecting rules and applying justice equally among all clubs.
When asked about the possibility of disagreements with Hussein Labib, the current president of Zamalek, Suleiman denied any personal conflicts, affirming that their relationship is based on mutual respect. He explained that their shared goal is to serve Zamalek through their various responsibilities. He added, "Before the elections, we worked together for the benefit of the club, and we continue to do so. Differences in opinion do not equate to conflicts. On the contrary, diverse perspectives are needed to reach the best solutions."
Suleiman explained that any differences within the board are normal in any organizational entity, especially when the common goal is the public interest. He assured that any discussions or disagreements between him and the club president occur behind closed doors in an institutional manner, away from personal conflicts, and are always resolved in a way that serves the club.
He concluded his statements by emphasizing that the coming period requires the unity of all club members. Zamalek needs both administrative and technical stability to continue competing for domestic and continental titles. He mentioned that the board is working hard to meet the expectations of the fans and provide the right environment for the first football team to achieve success.
Suleiman also stressed the importance of protecting the team from rumors and inaccurate news, urging fans to trust the board and avoid being misled by any attempts to disrupt the club’s journey. He confirmed that Zizo is one of the distinguished players who have contributed greatly to Zamalek, and that the final decision regarding his future will be made in a way that benefits all parties involved.
