During his honoring ceremony at the 19th National Festival of Egyptian Theatre, Ahmed Wafik opened up about his unsuccessful attempt to join the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts despite already working as a professional actor.

Wafik admitted that the rejection left him deeply disappointed because he believed academic study would strengthen his acting skills and help him grow professionally.

His perspective changed after meeting the late director Galal El Sharkawy, who encouraged him by explaining that, as an experienced actor, he had already gained practical knowledge, while other aspiring students needed the institute more.

Instead of allowing Wafik to lose confidence, El Sharkawy offered him a role in one of his stage productions, giving him a fresh opportunity to continue developing through practical experience.

Wafik described theater as the foundation of his artistic career, crediting it with shaping his discipline, confidence, and acting abilities.

His remarks came during a special seminar celebrating his career as part of the National Festival of Egyptian Theatre, which honored several prominent figures in Egyptian theater and opened with the theatrical performance "Safar" (Journey), highlighting Egypt's cultural diversity and the festival's outreach beyond Cairo.

Ahmed Wafik's story serves as a reminder that professional setbacks can become turning points when met with determination, mentorship, and perseverance.
