Alexandria Short Film Festival Honors Arab Cinema with New Awards

At the Sayed Darwish Theatre inside the Alexandria Opera House 🎭, the 12th edition of the Alexandria Short Film Festival continued its celebrations by announcing the winners of the Arab Film Competition, one of the festival’s key sections highlighting diverse Arab cinematic voices 🌍✨.
This year’s competition featured 8 films from different Arab countries, each offering unique cinematic perspectives ranging from social realism to symbolic storytelling 🎬.
🏆 Gold Winner
The Gold Hypatia Award went to “Kaab Al-Qahwa Khair”, directed by Elio Tarbiah. The film stood out for its poetic visual storytelling and its ability to transform a simple narrative into a deeply human and symbolic cinematic experience 🎬✨.
🥈 Silver Winner
The Silver Hypatia Award was given to the Saudi film “A Happy Day”, directed by Mohamed Al-Zowari. The film explored the concept of happiness through a calm and reflective cinematic approach 🎭.
🌟 Special Mention
The Tunisian film “The Nail”, directed by Raed Bousrih, received a special mention for its strong visual language and symbolic narrative style 🎬.
👥 Jury Panel
The jury included Dr. Ghada Gaber, actor Abdel Aziz El Habsy, and Sudanese filmmaker Mohamed Kordofani 🎭, bringing diverse artistic and academic perspectives to the evaluation process.
