Actor Amir El Masry continues his rising international career by starring in a global drama series inspired by the novel Metropolis, part of the Berlin Noir series by Philip Kerr, one of the most successful and widely read crime fiction collections worldwide.
The project is produced for Apple TV+, bringing together a prestigious cast including Oscar-winning actor Colin Firth, alongside Stephen Campbell Moore, Alex Novak, Jacob McCarthy, and Amanda Lawrence. The production is a collaboration between Bad Wolf, with executive production contributions from Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman through Playtone, in addition to Germany’s Studio Babelsberg.
The series is set in Berlin in 1928, following the early rise of detective Bernie Gunther as he joins the elite homicide unit. He becomes involved in a chilling investigation into a serial killer operating on the fringes of society, blending crime, psychological tension, and historical drama.
Beyond this project, Amir El Masry continues his busy career with the series “The Butcher” and the upcoming release of the film “Stories,” which has already earned major accolades including the Golden Tanit award at the Carthage Film Festival. His film “Giant” also received strong acclaim at the Red Sea International Film Festival, portraying the life of British-Yemeni boxing legend Prince Naseem Hamed.
