Actor and director Amr Abed revealed the reason behind his hiatus from the art scene, citing his decision to travel to Spain to study directing after 14 years in acting.
Abed explained:
"I felt like I was repeating the same steps without gaining new skills, and my passion for directing and writing was always following me. I found the current time perfect to pursue this desire" 💫🎬.
✨ Short Film "Saf Thani"
Abed participated with the short film "Saf Thani" at the Cairo International Film Festival. The story unfolds in the heart of Cairo, where a young couple tries to sell their car before leaving the country, while the husband struggles with the choice between leaving with his family or staying alone in Cairo 📽️💛.
🎬 Series "Maw’ed Ma’a Al-Madhi"
This series marks Abed’s first experience writing a long-form series, co-writing with Mohamed El-Masry and Yamani Khattab, after his previous work on the short film "Al-Hafra".
The series stars Asser Yassin, Rakeen Saad, Sherine Reda, Hoda Al-Mufti, Mahmoud Hemida, and unfolds within an exciting thriller framework.
🌟 Directing Journey & International Films
Amr Abed started his directing career with the short film "Al-Hafra", winning Best Short Film at the Makishmetran International Film Festival in India, receiving a special mention from Keys Berlin Film Festival, and participating in other global festivals such as Go Short Film Festival, The Underground Cinema Films Awards in Ireland, and Pune International Film Festival in India.
"Al-Hafra" is set on the outskirts of Cairo, depicting a confrontation between two men where personalities clash, revealing the dark side of their relationship, starring Sadki Sakhr and Ahmed Benhawy, produced by Karim Qasim, written and directed by Amr Abed ✨📽️.
💫 In recent years, Abed completed his studies in directing at ESCAC Escola Superior de Cinema in Spain, and is currently working on his first feature film "Elly Fat Mat", alongside continuing his acting career 🌟🎬.
