Amr Salama Reacts to Egypt’s National Team Crisis: “Hossam Hassan Is Under Massive Pressure”
Director Amr Salama expressed deep concern about the current state of Egypt’s national football team, describing coach Hossam Hassan as overwhelmed and facing intense pressure from all sides.
As criticism continues to mount regarding the Egyptian national team’s performance ⚽🔥, filmmaker Amr Salama shared a candid message on Facebook in which he voiced sympathy for head coach Hossam Hassan, stating that the legendary figure is facing extraordinary pressure from fans and the football system alike.
Salama described the current coach as spontaneous and emotional 😔, but highlighted that he is operating within a highly tense environment. Despite his historic status, the pressure on him has been relentless.
He added:
✨ “I feel for someone who knows an entire system is against him, even though he’s a historic icon… but shouting and emotional reactions won’t help.”
Salama argued that attempting to replicate the successful eras of former coaches like Mahmoud El-Gohary and Hassan Shehata is unrealistic today, noting that African football has evolved dramatically since those days.
He continued:
🔸 “El-Gohary and Shehata were respected leaders with strong coaching careers long before they managed the national team.”
🔸 “Today’s environment is totally different—professional players, global standards, and unprecedented public pressure.”
Salama criticized the state of local coaching, saying that although many Egyptian coaches are talented and hardworking, they lack the high-level experience needed to manage the national team in its current phase.
He stressed that hiring a mediocre foreign coach would not solve the problem, urging instead for investment in a top-level international coach with a proven track record 🌍—especially with Egypt boasting one of its strongest player generations.
He concluded by emphasizing that modern football requires planning, analytics, advanced training, and long-term vision ⭐.
