The Egyptian Ministry of Culture upgrades the Aswan International Sculpture Symposium grounds to become a year-round open-air museum, promoting artistic sustainability and providing an ideal environment for artists and the public
As part of Egypt’s efforts to support serious arts and enhance the sustainability of major cultural projects, the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, represented by the Cultural Development Fund, has carried out comprehensive development works at the Aswan International Sculpture Symposium 🏺💫, transforming it from a seasonal workspace into a permanent art hub for creation and exhibition.
Hamdy El-Satouhy, Head of the Cultural Development Fund, emphasized that this development represents a qualitative shift in project management. The investment in infrastructure aims to protect accumulated artworks, ensure continuity, and transform the site into an open-air museum serving both artists and the public, while strengthening the presence of serious art in public spaces 🌟🎨.
Akram El-Magdoub, Commissaire of the Symposium, explained that the upgrades included wide pathways for cranes and transport vehicles, designated workspaces for each artist equipped with electricity, water, and compressed air outlets 🛠️⚡💧.
Additionally, lighting columns were installed for evening work and exhibition illumination, spaces for stone debris collection were created, and a service building including a blacksmith room, workers’ toilets, and administrative offices was constructed. This has significantly increased the site’s capacity and improved working conditions for artists, enhancing the coordination and presentation of the final exhibition 🎇🖌️.
