Aswan International Women’s Film Festival Celebrates Its 10th Edition with Tribute to Women in Cinema
The city of Aswan is set to host the 10th edition of the International Women’s Film Festival 🎬, honoring Egyptian cinema pioneer Aziza Amir on the 125th anniversary of her birth, featuring a stunning poster reflecting the spirit of the Nile and Egyptian women.
From April 20 to 25, Aswan transforms into a beacon of art and women’s empowerment 💫 as the 10th Aswan International Women’s Film Festival kicks off, celebrating Aziza Amir, recognized as the first woman in Egyptian, Arab, and African cinema and a global cinematic pioneer.
The festival poster, designed by artist Hisham Ali, showcases a strikingly realistic style. It depicts a woman in a flowing white dress, moving northward, with a shawl of Nile water stretching between her arms 🌊, creating a vertical axis linking southern cultural symbols: Egyptian palms, Nubian houses, holy shrines, and sailboats navigating the Nile—highlighting the beauty of Aswan and Nubia.
