In a surprising development that brings one of Hollywood’s most closely watched legal disputes to an end, Blake Lively and actor-director Justin Baldoni have reached a settlement, closing a prolonged legal battle just days before their scheduled court hearing in May.
How the Dispute Began
The conflict dates back to December 2024, when Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, accusing him of causing severe emotional distress and alleging an unsafe working environment during the filming of It Ends With Us. She also pointed to what she described as inappropriate conduct and alleged retaliation during the film’s promotional period.
Baldoni’s Response and Counterclaims
Justin Baldoni denied all allegations and filed a countersuit against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds. However, the court later dismissed the countersuit. A federal judge in California also rejected part of the harassment claims due to lack of jurisdiction.
A Formal Settlement
Before the scheduled court date on May 18, both parties announced a formal settlement, though no financial or legal details were disclosed. The agreement was presented as a mutual decision to move forward.
Joint Statement and Closure
In a joint statement, both sides described the film as a source of pride for everyone involved and emphasized the importance of raising awareness about domestic violence and ensuring safe working environments. They also acknowledged the concerns raised by Lively and expressed hope to leave the dispute behind.
Despite Lively’s earlier intention to continue legal proceedings, the case has now officially ended with a settlement, closing a widely followed Hollywood legal saga.
