Cairo Symphony Orchestra Kicks Off the New Year at the Egyptian Opera House
The Egyptian Opera House welcomes 2026 with a special performance by the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Greek maestro Vasily Tistanis, featuring Romanian soprano Larisa Stefan and an a cappella choir.
The Egyptian Opera House is set to celebrate the New Year 2026 with an exceptional concert by the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, under the supervision of its principal conductor Maestro Ahmed El-Saeedy, led by Greek maestro Vasily Tistanis, and featuring Romanian soprano Larisa Stefan along with an a cappella choir. The concert will take place at 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the Grand Theater of the Opera House.
The program includes a selection of world-class classical pieces, which have become a hallmark of New Year celebrations globally, ranging from waltzes, polkas, and marches, including: Orpheus in the Underworld by Offenbach, Gold and Silver Waltz and Violin Solo from Operetta Paganini by Franz Lehár, Light Cavalry by Franz von Suppé, Diabolical Dance by Joseph Hellmesberger II, as well as Shall I Play the Role of the Innocent Village Girl, Adventure Waltz, Voices of Spring, Gypsy Baron, Polka Under Thunder and Lightning, and Egyptian March by Johann Strauss II in celebration of the 200th anniversary of his birth.
The opera halls have been decorated to welcome the event with a Christmas and New Year theme, featuring simulated snow, Christmas trees, colorful lights, and Santa Claus figures as symbols of hope and optimism for a bright future.
