Cinematographers Mourn the Passing of Director of Photography Mahmoud Abdel Samie’s Sister
The Syndicate of Cinematic Professions mourned the passing of the sister of director of photography Mahmoud Abdel Samie, who passed away this morning, expressing condolences to the family.
The syndicate shared a verse from the Quran on their official Facebook page:
"In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful: O serene soul, return to your Lord, pleased and pleasing, and enter among My servants and enter My Paradise. Allah has spoken the truth."
The official statement read: "The head of the Cinematographers Syndicate and the board members mourn the sister of our colleague Mahmoud Abdel Samie. We share the grief, pray for her mercy and forgiveness, and wish patience and solace for the family. May Allah have mercy on the deceased."
Abdel Samie emphasized at a seminar during the Cairo International Film Festival that a director of photography must fully understand the story or script and work harmoniously with the director, highlighting that success depends on both skill and experience alongside talent.
He also shared his expertise in lighting, framing, and scene management, stressing the importance of creating cinematic visuals that reflect the drama and support the artistic vision of the film.
