The acclaimed play “The Artist” returns with a new season at Cairo Opera’s Al-Hanager Arts Center, portraying the struggles of artists, inspired by the life of the late actress Zinat Sedky
The distinguished play “The Artist” returns for a new season at Al-Hanager Arts Center, Cairo Opera House, starting December 31, continuing the success achieved in previous seasons.
The play recently participated in several events, including the National Egyptian Theatre Festival, winning multiple awards: Haidy Abdel Khalek received Best Leading Actress, Fatma Adel won Best Supporting Actress, and Yasmin Omar earned Best Rising Actress.
“The Artist” depicts the struggles faced by artists and societal perceptions of them, particularly focusing on female artists who encountered significant challenges in their careers. The play’s writer and director, Mohamed Zaki, drew inspiration from the life of the late actress Zinat Sedky, a symbol of dedication and sacrifice for the arts, presenting events through a single day in her life in a touching dramatic narrative.
The cast features prominent actors, including Haidy Abdel Khalek, Fatma Adel, Basma Maher, Ehab Bakir, Mohamed Zaki, Ahmed El-Gohary, Mahmoud Helwani, Reem Medhat, Ibrahim El-Alfy, Abdel Aziz El-Anani, Viola Adel, Yasmin Omar, Yasser Abu Al-Einen, Martina Hany, and Mahmoud El-Ghandour. The production is managed by Al-Hanager Arts Center under the leadership of artist Shady Sorour, with writing and directing by Mohamed Zaki.
