Tunisian actor Dhafer L'Abidine has expressed his pride in participating in the 7th Amman International Film Festival, where his latest film "Sophia" premiered before Jordanian audiences during the festival's opening ceremony.

L'Abidine described his relationship with the Amman International Film Festival as a long-standing one, noting that he previously served as a jury member and also presented his directorial debut, "Ghodwa," at the festival.

Speaking about "Sophia," the actor explained that while many of his previous projects focused on family relationships and emotional storytelling, his latest film offers a stronger blend of suspense, mystery, and psychological drama alongside its emotional core.

The film is a Tunisian-British co-production featuring an international cast, reflecting a broader cinematic collaboration aimed at reaching global audiences.

The story follows Emily, who travels from London to Tunisia hoping to help her daughter Sophia reconnect with her estranged husband Hisham. However, what begins as a family reunion quickly turns into a nightmare when Sophia suddenly disappears.

As Emily desperately searches for her daughter, long-hidden secrets, lies, and betrayals begin to emerge, creating an intense race against time while the family's fragile relationships collapse around her.

L'Abidine is also scheduled to attend another screening of the film during the festival, followed by a discussion with the audience, offering viewers an opportunity to explore the film's themes and production journey.
