The opening ceremony was attended by several senior cultural officials, including Ahmed El-Shafie, Head of the Central Administration for Artistic Affairs, Ahmed Sami Khater, Head of the East Delta Cultural Region, and Nagwa Kiwan, Director-General of Damietta Culture.
Their presence reflected the Ministry's commitment to expanding cultural outreach and making artistic performances available to audiences beyond traditional theaters.
💃 Assiut Folk Arts Troupe Delights the Audience
The opening performance featured the Assiut Folk Arts Troupe, which presented a collection of authentic Upper Egyptian folkloric dances inspired by Egyptian heritage.
The audience enjoyed performances including Al-Tahmila, Al-Assaya, Al-Ghazal, and Arouset El-Mawled, all reflecting Egypt's rich cultural traditions.
Singer Ahmed Zahir also performed the popular song "Sallim Ala Lamma Qabalni," while the evening concluded with a colorful Tanoura dance, earning enthusiastic applause from spectators. 🎵✨
🎼 Bringing Culture to Summer Destinations
According to ministry officials, the program aims to bring artistic performances directly to where people spend their holidays, allowing families and visitors to enjoy high-quality cultural events free of charge.
The initiative includes performances by folk dance ensembles, traditional groups, and Arabic music orchestras, offering a diverse cultural experience throughout the summer.
📅 57 Free Performances Throughout August
The "Art on the Beach" program features 57 free performances across Damietta and Dakahlia Governorates.
A total of 38 performances will be presented at the Roman Theater in Ras El Bar and New Damietta Theater between August 1 and August 25, while 19 additional performances will take place at Gamasa Theater from August 3 to August 26.
The program reflects the Ministry of Culture's broader strategy to promote artistic engagement and preserve Egyptian cultural heritage through accessible public events.
