The actress Elham Shahin broke her silence after facing harsh criticism on social media following her recent statements about the war between Iran and Israel, and the widespread controversy regarding her stance on the Palestinian cause and her role as an Arab artist.

In her recent remarks, Elham Shahin clarified that she did not intend to downplay the severity of the war or ignore the Palestinian issue. Instead, she was speaking about a personal experience during her time in Iraq, where she felt safe because the war had not yet reached Iraqi soil or directly threatened its stability. She emphasized that her point was that Iraq was not a war zone at that time, and she was in a relatively safe area.

She added, “I was asked if the war affected my presence in Iraq, and I said there was no war in Iraq at that time, and I was safe. But the Arab position is clear, and our support for Palestine doesn’t need affirmation. We stand with the truth against injustice.”
Shahin continued, “I am not against Israel because of their religion, but against the occupation, against injustice, against the confiscation of an entire people’s rights. The war is humanitarian, not religious. Those who attack me don’t know my history or my positions, which have always sided with justice.”

She also pointed out that she has been subjected for years to organized attacks by electronic committees, especially since the rule of the Muslim Brotherhood, and confirmed that she does not care about these criticisms: “There are committees attacking me for a long time, and their opinion does not matter to me. I work according to my feelings and principles, and I don’t need to justify myself to anyone.”

Regarding her return to Egypt, Elham spoke about the anxiety she experienced before coming back, noting that she went through hours of tension and instability. She said, “I didn’t sleep for 48 hours, I was worried and upset, I didn’t know if I would return or not. But thank God, I came back to my country, which I love, and I love its people. The Egyptian people are very kind.”

She concluded her talk with a message to those who attack her, saying: “I tell those who are busy with me: don’t think about me, forget me, and God is the one who loves and protects. Love comes from Him and does not need anyone’s consolation. I am content and happy with myself.”
