The team behind the hit comedy series El Leaba ("The Game") is set to begin filming the fifth season of the show right after Eid al-Adha. This comes following the significant popular success of the previous four seasons, which were widely praised by both audiences and critics, solidifying the show's status as one of the most impactful comedic productions in the Egyptian drama scene in recent years.

Veteran actor Sami Maghawry, one of the show's key cast members, confirmed that preparations are well underway to begin filming immediately after the Eid break. He noted that the original cast will return, playing a vital role once again in driving the show's success. In an exclusive statement, he added that the upcoming season will feature many comedic surprises that will retain the show's familiar spirit while introducing new developments in both storyline and character arcs to meet audience expectations.

Maghawry stated: “I’m very excited to return for the fifth season of El Leaba, especially after the great success of the past seasons, which have become a hallmark of modern comedy drama. We promise viewers a fresh dose of laughter and entertainment, while maintaining the high artistic quality they’ve come to expect.”

The new season will once again feature the ensemble cast that has become integral to the show’s identity, led by the comedic duo Chico and Hesham Maged. Their portrayals of “Wasim” and “Mazo” have won over millions, generating massive engagement across social media and turning them into iconic comedic figures that fans eagerly anticipate each season. Also returning to the cast are Ahmed Fathy, Mohamed Tharwat, Mai Kassab, Mirna Gamil, Sami Maghawry, and Arefa Abdel Rasoul, with guest appearances by several stars in select episodes.

The fifth season will be written by the talented trio Ahmed Saad Wali, Ibrahim Saber, and Mohamed Salah Khattab, who have crafted the world of El Leaba from the beginning and consistently introduced fresh ideas each season. Direction will be handled by Moataz El Tony, whose visual approach skillfully combines humor, quirky situations, and a fast-paced rhythm that has significantly contributed to the show’s success on all levels.

Meanwhile, esteemed actor Sami Maghawry continues to shine in multiple projects this season. He recently appeared in the series El Captain, starring Akram Hosny, written by Amr El Daly and directed by Moataz El Tony. The show also starred Aya Samaha, Ahmed Abdel Wahab, Rahma Ahmed, Ahmed El Rafei, Mimi Gamal, Weam Magdy, and Moamen Nour. It received strong viewership thanks to its light tone and blend of social drama and comedy.

Maghawry also made a guest appearance in El Atawla, starring Ahmed El Sakka, written by Mostafa Gamal Hashem and directed by Ahmed Khaled Mousa. The show achieved high ratings due to its compelling plot and stellar performances.

Sami Maghawry is considered a cornerstone of Egyptian entertainment, known for his enduring talent and versatility across comedy, drama, and serious roles. He consistently selects projects that carry meaningful messages while providing enjoyable content for audiences.

El Leaba originally premiered on a digital platform before airing on satellite TV, where it exceeded expectations. The show stands out for its clever mix of humor and light drama, revolving around two friends participating in a bizarre game that places them in awkward yet hilarious situations. Its unique premise made it one of the most-watched series in its debut season, and it has continued to thrive in subsequent seasons.

The series is known for its witty situational comedy and well-crafted characters. It has also offered a smart, satirical take on themes like competition, ambition, social relationships, and love—making it suitable for all ages.

Season five is expected to introduce fresh developments in both character and plot, especially following the cliffhanger ending of season four that left audiences eager for more. The creators aim for this season to mark a turning point in both narrative and production, while staying true to the show's beloved essence.

Currently, the production team is finalizing the script and working on set design, costumes, and other artistic elements. They are betting on season five to be an exceptional one in both content and presentation, meeting the expectations of a loyal fanbase always eager for the next laugh.

El Leaba remains one of the few series to maintain its quality and longevity over multiple seasons, thanks to a cohesive team and a consistent push for innovation. Fans across social media have already expressed their excitement for the new season, curious about the new challenges “Mazo” and “Wasim” will face, and whether the game will take a darker or even funnier turn.

Amid this growing anticipation, one big question remains: will El Leaba 5 live up to the success and influence of its predecessors? Time will tell—but all signs point to another hit season.
