The Commercial Division of the Court of Cassation has issued a ruling rejecting the request submitted by Rotana Audio and Visual Company to suspend the enforcement of the verdict issued against it in its dispute with singer Sherine Abdel Wahab. The ruling terminates the contract between both parties and obligates the company to pay financial compensation amounting to EGP 2 million. The verdict is now final and enforceable, with the company bearing all legal costs.

This legal decision crowns a long judicial battle fought by Sherine against the production company following strained relations between the two sides, which the singer considered a breach of contract and a violation of her professional rights. Her legal team emphasized that Sherine sought to end the contractual relationship in a manner that would preserve her dignity and restore her rights — an approach the court upheld in its final ruling.

On another note, Sherine Abdel Wahab has chosen to withdraw from the artistic scene for the time being, opting to temporarily reside in Lebanon to escape the psychological and media pressures she has faced in recent weeks. This decision follows a period of serious health challenges coinciding with her participation in the Mawazine Festival, during which she performed using playback due to illness — a move that drew heavy public criticism despite her insistence on attending the concert out of respect for her fans.
