The Egyptian feature “Complaint 713317”, directed by Yasser Shafiee, has been officially selected for the Bright Future program at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, following its world premiere in the Arab Cinema Horizons competition at the Cairo International Film Festival, where it earned the Best Screenplay award. 🏆🌟

The film portrays the life of an elderly couple, Magdy and Sama, in their sixties, living peacefully in their apartment in the historic Maadi district. However, when their refrigerator breaks down, what seems like a minor issue escalates into a tense bureaucratic battle with a suspicious maintenance company. ❄️⚡

As the refrigerator deteriorates, deeper cracks appear in their everyday life and relationship. The story subtly explores themes of aging, marital dynamics, and the small yet impactful challenges that transform domestic life into a reflection of larger social and emotional struggles. 💔🏠

Yasser Shafiee, originally a jewelry designer, transitioned into filmmaking after studying at the Academy of Arts and the Jesuit School of Cinema. His short films, including “Dream of the Scene”, “Extreme Performance Drills”, and “The Man Who Swallowed the Radio”, received numerous awards. Complaint 713317 marks his debut in feature-length cinema, establishing him as a rising talent in the international film scene. ✨🎬

The Cairo International Film Festival, founded in 1976 and accredited by the FIAPF, is one of the most prestigious festivals in the Arab world and Africa. The festival combines artistic vision with professional networking, providing a platform for dialogue between cultures and promoting Arab cinema globally. 🌍🎥
