(Rewritten & Original)

Beneath the neon lights and luxurious façades of Gangnam lies a world filled with shadows—shadows that the public rarely sees. Gangnam B-Side begins with a chilling mystery: the sudden disappearance of Kim Jae-hee, a confident and sharp-witted young woman working in a high-end nightclub. Known for standing up for herself and speaking her mind, Jae-hee unknowingly stumbles upon information powerful enough to topple dangerous figures. On the last night she is seen, security footage captures her running terrified through a dim alley—then disappearing without a trace.

News of her missing case reaches Kang Dong-woo, a detective who once paid the price for exposing corruption inside the police force. Having been pushed down the ranks and isolated, Dong-woo has tried to distance himself from the chaos. But something about Jae-hee’s disappearance calls him back. To him, she symbolizes another victim swallowed by the same corrupt system that destroyed his career. He returns, despite resistance from colleagues who insist she simply “ran away.”

As Dong-woo digs deeper, he confronts Yoon Gil-ho—a feared, respected, and unpredictable figure who dominates Gangnam’s nightlife. Gil-ho is known for pulling the strings in the shadows, mediating deals, moving information, and maintaining a careful balance between crime and order. Although he seems antagonistic at first, fragments of his character reveal that he looked after Jae-hee. Their relationship is layered—part protection, part loyalty, part unspoken history.

Their first encounters are tense. Dong-woo believes Gil-ho is withholding information. Gil-ho sees Dong-woo as a threat. But as clues intensify, it becomes clear that neither man is the true enemy; instead, they are both circling the same dark core.

Enter Min Seo-jin, a rising prosecutor eager to prove herself in a competitive legal landscape. At first, she treats the case as an opportunity for professional advancement. But the deeper she goes, the more she becomes aware of the political and criminal forces manipulating the system. Her internal struggle grows: should she follow her ambition or do what is morally right?

The investigation uncovers unsettling truths. Jae-hee’s disappearance is not an isolated event. It is tied to a large criminal network controlling various nightclubs, trafficking money, exploiting workers, and maintaining influence over certain police divisions. Every lead Dong-woo finds results in another barrier—intimidation, false reports, deleted evidence, and officers pressured to stay silent.

Meanwhile, Gil-ho begins to reveal his own motives. Although he operates in the criminal world, he despises exploitation and believes Jae-hee deserved protection. When he discovers she was targeted for discovering a sensitive file—a file containing records, names, and recordings of powerful figures—his mission becomes personal. He joins forces with Dong-woo in an unspoken alliance:
✦ Dong-woo seeks justice
✦ Gil-ho seeks vengeance

Seo-jin, who once stood at a safe distance, is pulled into the crossfire. The evidence she uncovers exposes a web of corruption extending far beyond Gangnam. She must choose between career security or public truth, ultimately becoming a decisive force in exposing the conspiracy.

As the story progresses, the tension escalates. Every step toward truth increases danger. Characters are forced to confront their pasts, their fears, and the choices that define them. The truth behind Jae-hee’s file becomes clear: she accidentally obtained documentation revealing large-scale trafficking operations protected by influential leaders. Once she saw the content, she became a target.

The climax brings confrontations, painful revelations, and irreversible decisions. The ending does not offer perfect closure—but a realistic portrait of justice in a corrupt world. The truth emerges, but at a cost that haunts every character.
