Actress Hala Shiha has revealed some of the profound spiritual moments she experienced since her childhood, noting her deep connection with reflection and contemplation on the greatness of God’s creation—especially during the times she spent by the sea, which, for her, served as a window into meditating on existence.

In a video posted on her official Instagram account, Hala explained that from a young age, she was inclined toward quiet solitude during dawn or nighttime, sitting by the sea and observing the waves and the vast horizon. She said, “I really loved the idea of contemplation. I used to wake up early and sit by the sea... I didn’t like going out at night; I preferred the sky, the sea. I loved gazing at them for a long time.”

She added: “One of the things that used to occupy my mind and make my thoughts spin was when I looked at the sea and asked myself: So where is God? Where is His place? We don’t see Him—so is He really there? And I would ask myself: Why can’t I see Him?”

Hala continued: “I would look at the sea and think: There’s an end we can’t reach. There’s something beyond what the eye can see. And I would say: Maybe this isn’t the end of the road—maybe there’s something beyond it… After a while, I understood: It’s not that God doesn’t exist—no, it’s that my sight is limited. I became convinced that even though we can’t see God, He exists. His presence is clear in everything around us—in the details of the universe, in the sea, in the sky, in the very breath we take.”

Hala’s experience was not just a fleeting moment of reflection, but rather the beginning of inner maturity and a spiritual journey that continued into adulthood. She affirmed that faith is not measured by material things or what the eye can see—it comes from within, from a deep feeling of the presence of an unseen power that surrounds us, cares for us, and orchestrates our affairs.

She explained that her relationship with God began with questions but evolved into certainty. This transformation did not come through books alone or by listening to sermons, but through personal experience, self-exploration, and “retreating with the self in the presence of creation,” as she described it.

The actress—known for her varied artistic and personal life phases—added that what helped her realize these values were the silent moments she spent alone, away from life’s noise. She emphasized that humans need to pause from time to time, to reflect, to ask, and even to doubt, in order to ultimately reach true faith. “Faith doesn’t have to come from tangible evidence… The feeling itself is the proof,” she said.

The video Hala posted received widespread engagement from her fans and followers on social media. Many expressed admiration for her honest and profound words. Several fellow artists also voiced their support and appreciation for her spiritual journey, especially in light of the personal changes she has undergone in recent years.

Notably, Hala Shiha recently reappeared wearing the hijab once again after a period of absence from the spotlight. She returned to share different content with her audience—imbued with spiritual and faith-based themes—reflecting her internal transformation and growing interest in emotional and human dimensions.

This new direction comes after a long artistic career in which she starred in various film and TV works, the most recent being her role in the past Ramadan season in the series “Empire of M” (Imbratoriyat Meem), which garnered widespread viewership. She starred alongside actor Khaled El Nabawy, and the show was written by Mohamed Suleiman Abdel Malek and directed by Mohamed Salama.

The series featured a host of stars including Nashwa Mostafa, Nour El Nabawy, Mahmoud Hafez, Mohamed Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, Mayan El Sayed, Hagar El Sarrag, Laila Eloui, and others. Hala’s performance in the series was praised by viewers for blending emotional depth with dramatic nuance.

Balancing her artistic return with her spiritual expressions on social media, Hala Shiha continues to shape a different kind of presence in the public sphere—keen to express herself in alignment with her current beliefs, and engaging with her audience in a sincere, unpretentious way.

As her recent messages reflect, Hala believes that a true artist is not measured by the number of works they produce, but by how honest they are with themselves and with their audience. She considers the spiritual journey to be an inseparable part of a person’s identity—even within the artistic world.
