Maestro Hany Farahat confirmed that he has fulfilled his dream by presenting a musical performance on the stage of the Sydney Opera House as the first Arab composer, considering this moment a major achievement in his artistic career.
He said on his Instagram account: "It was my dream to be the first Arab to stand on the Sydney Opera House stage; these dreams come true because it is the greatest opera house in the world."
Behind the Scenes: Preparations and Challenges
Farahat revealed the difficulties of preparing to work with 150 musicians, noting the need to convince them that music must "breathe" just as he himself breathes. He added: "I’m not offering medicine or law, but entertainment that speaks to the heart and soul, not just the mind."
He also mentioned that his work requires a kind of madness, saying: "It is said that we are the craziest people, and this is largely true."
Nervousness Before Going On Stage
Farahat expressed his nervousness before stepping onto the stage, explaining: "Standing backstage before entering is like a child before an exam; I have to be able to make the audience happy."
He continued: "Once the performance begins, I completely disconnect from the audience—I don’t see who is watching. This is not intentional but a blessing from God that helps me focus and control my performance, which is very difficult."
