Helmy Abdel Baki announced on his official Facebook account that musician Nasser Saqr has been battling cancer since April 2023. His health had improved after receiving support from the Musicians Syndicate under Mostafa Kamel, but recent suspension of this aid has led to a setback in his condition.

He expressed disappointment over defamation campaigns targeting his reputation, clarifying that his complaint was personal regarding insults directed at him, not related to the syndicate’s work.
He added:
