Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmy welcomed the French ambassador in Cairo during the red carpet of the Palestinian film "Kan Yama Kan fi Gaza" at the Cairo International Film Festival.
Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmy welcomed the French ambassador in Cairo at the red carpet of the Palestinian film "Kan Yama Kan fi Gaza", competing in the international competition section of the festival, screened at the Grand Theater of the Egyptian Opera House.
During the event, Fahmy took commemorative photos with the French ambassador and actress Lobna, who playfully told him: "You didn’t invite me to the embassy party yesterday."
About "Kan Yama Kan fi Gaza"
Directed by Tarzan and Arab Nasser with a script by them in collaboration with Amer Nasser and Marie Legrand, the film is set in Gaza in 2007. It follows a young man, Yahya, who forms a friendship with Osama, a charismatic restaurant owner. Together, they start selling drugs while delivering falafel sandwiches but soon face a corrupt police officer. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and won Best Director in the Un Certain Regard section.

This year, the festival presents a wide range of films competing in official sections and parallel programs, including 14 films in the international competition, 15 in the official non-competition section, 8 in Critics’ Week, 9 in Arab Cinema Horizons, 24 short films, and special screenings, panorama, classic films, and restored Egyptian films.
