Actor Karim El Husseiny has opened up about his deeply personal experience performing with his son Fagr in the theatrical production "Gimo's Adventures" at Al Shams Theater, describing the project as a powerful example of genuine inclusion through the arts.
Speaking during a panel on integrating the arts with people with disabilities as part of the 19th National Egyptian Theater Festival, El Husseiny explained that his journey began years ago while preparing for his role in the film "El Garaj." To portray a young man with an intellectual disability accurately, he spent time interacting with children with disabilities, an experience that profoundly changed his perspective.
Years later, life brought him an even deeper connection when his son Fagr, who has a disability, became part of his own family. Today, Fagr performs alongside his father in "Gimo's Adventures," making the production both an artistic and deeply personal journey.
El Husseiny also revealed that his wife joined the production and dedicates much of her time to supporting children with disabilities, making the project a family mission centered on inclusion and empowerment.
He stressed that the play is not simply about symbolic inclusion but about providing real opportunities for talented performers with disabilities to showcase their abilities on stage before audiences.
The actor emphasized that art has the power to reshape society's perception of disability by highlighting talent, determination, and creativity rather than limitations.
