Egyptian director Khaled Youssef praised the El Gouna Film Festival 2025, noting that the event continues to grow stronger and more refined each year, both in its organization and in the diversity of its cinematic showcases.

Speaking during his attendance at the festival, Youssef said: “This year’s edition is extremely successful — even better than last year’s. Everything was carefully selected and perfectly executed.”

He commended the festival’s management for honoring actress Menna Shalaby with the Creative Achievement Award, celebrating the centenary of director Youssef Chahine, and marking 50 years of artistry for Yousra, describing these moments as “a tribute to Egyptian cinema’s legacy and its timeless stars.”

Responding to opinions suggesting Menna Shalaby is too young for such an award, Youssef explained: “It’s not about age — Menna’s contribution is significant. She’s one of the most talented and emotionally sensitive actresses of her generation, and her body of work fully qualifies her for this honor.”

The emotional highlight of the ceremony came when Yousra presented the award to Menna Shalaby, praising her with heartfelt words: “Menna is one of the most beautiful and talented actresses of her generation — bold, strong, and emotionally captivating. When she cries, she makes me cry; when she laughs, she lights up the room.”

The festival’s opening night was met with enthusiasm and admiration, marking another milestone in the legacy of El Gouna Film Festival’s cultural and cinematic journey.
