The General Authority for Cultural Palaces begins its participation in the 19th National Theatre Festival with the performance of "Les Misérables" at Al-Samer Theatre. The production is presented by the "Start Your Dream" theatre troupe from Kafr El-Sheikh and is considered one of the festival's most anticipated performances.
Inspired by Victor Hugo's world-famous novel, the play is adapted and directed by Ibrahim El-Fiqi, offering a theatrical vision centered on freedom, justice, hope, and the struggle against oppression.
The story follows a former prisoner who repeatedly attempts to escape in search of freedom while facing relentless pursuit by the authorities. As events unfold, a popular revolution emerges, demanding justice, equality, and human dignity.
The production earned the Best Theatrical Performance Award at the Closing Festival of Regional Theatre Troupes, securing its place in Egypt's premier theatre event.
"Les Misérables" is one of six productions representing the General Authority for Cultural Palaces during this year's festival, highlighting the growing artistic achievements of regional theatre companies across Egypt.
The performance will be presented free of charge through Thursday at Al-Samer Theatre, giving theatre lovers the opportunity to enjoy an award-winning production.
The National Theatre Festival, chaired this year by actor Mohamed Riyad, continues to celebrate Egyptian theatrical creativity through competitive performances, intellectual seminars, critical discussions, and cultural events that support the country's vibrant theatre movement.
