The General Authority for Cultural Palaces, headed by artist Hesham Atwa, will begin its participation in the 19th National Theatre Festival of Egypt with the stage production "Les Misérables", performed by the Start Your Dream theatre troupe from Kafr El Sheikh.
Scheduled for Wednesday at 7:00 PM at Al-Samer Theatre in Agouza, the production marks the authority's first performance in this year's festival, which runs until August 11.
Adapted from Victor Hugo's world-famous novel, the play is dramatized and directed by Ibrahim El Feky. It follows the story of a prisoner repeatedly seeking freedom while facing oppression, before a popular revolution gives him the opportunity to reveal his courage and lead others in the pursuit of justice and liberation.
The production previously won Best Theatrical Performance at the Regional Theatre Festival, earning its place among the official festival selections. It is also one of six productions presented by the General Authority for Cultural Palaces during this edition of the festival.
The National Theatre Festival remains one of Egypt's leading cultural events, bringing together theatrical performances, intellectual seminars, and critical discussions that support artistic creativity and celebrate the diversity of Egyptian theatre.
