At the dazzling opening of the El Gouna Film Festival 2025, renowned critic Magda Khairallah expressed her admiration for the event, praising both its organization and artistic diversity.
Through a post on her Facebook page, Khairallah described actress Jihan El Shamashergy as “the most graceful and elegant” among the attendees, emphasizing that her simplicity was the essence of her charm in a night full of glamour.
She also commended actor and comedian Taha El Dessouky for his engaging stand-up comedy segment, where he humorously portrayed the challenges faced by film crews on set, earning laughter and applause from the audience.
Speaking about the musical segment that featured themes from famous movies, Khairallah noted her appreciation for including music from La La Land and Slumdog Millionaire, but added that incorporating the iconic Mission Impossible theme by Tom Cruise would have elevated the performance even more, despite its slightly extended duration.
Khairallah concluded by stating that this year’s festival succeeded in combining elegance and authenticity, presenting Egyptian cinema in a bright and international image.
