In an emotional and heartfelt moment, Lebanese star Maya Diab spoke from the red carpet of the El Gouna Film Festival, declaring her love for Lebanon despite its struggles, and describing Egypt as her second home and a land of artistic magic.
Lebanese singer and TV star Maya Diab captivated the audience with her dazzling presence at the El Gouna Film Festival’s sixth edition, expressing deep affection for her homeland Lebanon, saying that “the Lebanese were born in war, lived through war, yet still choose life and hope.”
In a red-carpet interview with Lamees El Hadidy on Al-Nahar TV, Maya said:
“Lebanon is fine, it’s struggling a bit, but it never dies. I never left Beirut, not even for a day, and I’ll never leave it. We’re a people who love life despite everything.”
Speaking warmly about Egypt, she added:
“Egypt is not just my second country — it’s my artistic home. The organization here at El Gouna is world-class, honestly the best on Earth.”
Maya also hinted at a possible return to television, revealing she may bring back her previous talk show on Al-Nahar TV:
“I might return with my show again; it was a great experience, and I’m open to all opportunities. The screen feels like home.”
The El Gouna Film Festival remains one of the most prominent cinematic events in the Middle East, celebrating global creativity while emphasizing the beauty and power of Arab cinema as a bridge between cultures.
