The artist Mai Selim revealed the challenges she faces in raising her only daughter, Leila, pointing out the difficulties caused by applying modern parenting principles. During her participation in the podcast "Playing with the Big Guys" with media personality Rami Radwan, Mai expressed her frustration with these new methods that advocate against using violence or raising one's voice towards children, considering that these principles place her under significant psychological stress. She added, "Modern parenting says we can't hit, get angry, or raise our voices. I’m about to have a stroke, something's going to happen, or I’ll end up on sedatives."

Mai explained that she has always been nervous, but over time she has become calmer and is making efforts to control her emotions. When it comes to parenting, she mentioned that whenever she harms her daughter or feels that she has made a mistake, she quickly apologizes to her, emphasizing that she strives to instill the culture of apology and acknowledgment of mistakes in her daughter. Mai also stated that she tries to apply everything she has learned about parenting to herself, but has not been able to fully implement it, and is still working hard to incorporate it into her parenting style.

Mai’s daughter also spoke about the impact of these criticisms, saying: "I used to care about what people think of me, but now it doesn’t matter, no matter what I do, I won’t satisfy anyone, and the people who speak badly are the ones who bring us views, so they can talk as much as they want."

Mai also talked about the developments in her professional life, where she clarified that she had recently finished filming the series "Rouge Aswad" (Black Rouge), which stars a group of well-known actors like Dalia Mustafa, Rania Youssef, and others, but the release date has not been determined yet. She also confirmed her participation in the 2024 Ramadan season in several prominent works, including the series "Al-Madah 4," in which she played a notable role alongside star Hamada Helal, as well as the series "Ser Ilahi" with actress Rogina.

Regarding her other artistic activities, Mai announced the release of the official promo for her new song "Atala'at Bee," which is expected to be released in the coming days. She also talked about her collaboration with actor Mohamed Henedy in the play "Al-Maganeen" (The Crazy Ones), which will be shown in Saudi Arabia, considering it a great honor to be the lead actress opposite Henedy.

Mai Selim continues to shine both artistically and personally, as she always strives to balance her career with maintaining modern parenting values while raising her daughter Leila. Despite the challenges she faces, Mai continues to present distinguished artistic works and views challenges as an essential part of the journey to success, both personally and professionally.
