Today, an extensive meeting was held for the VAR referees involved in managing previous matches, with about 20 referees in attendance. The purpose of the meeting was to enhance the refereeing performance and improve the accuracy of decisions in the Egyptian Premier League matches. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Egyptian Football Association’s Referee Committee, including Oscar Ruiz, Chairman of the Referee Committee, Mr. Murad, Committee Member, as well as Gihad Gresha, Wagih Ahmed, and Fathi Omar, Committee Members, who provided important technical feedback.


The session included a presentation of several controversial refereeing moments from previous matches, discussing key contentious cases that sparked debate among fans and analysts. The goal was to correct refereeing mistakes and continuously improve the handling of video technology. A particular focus was placed on enhancing cooperation between on-field referees and VAR referees to ensure faster decision-making, which helps reduce the time spent reviewing cases and minimizes disruptions to the flow of the matches.


The importance of the meeting lies in enhancing the referees' ability to handle complex cases quickly and accurately, with an emphasis on improving performance in the control room, particularly the ability to review situations swiftly without disrupting the overall gameplay. The meeting also addressed the necessary training to continually develop referees’ skills, ensuring their full readiness for upcoming matches.


Officials from the Referee Committee emphasized that these regular meetings are a vital opportunity to review technical procedures and discuss errors that may affect the progression of matches, in addition to determining the best methods for ensuring accuracy and speed in decision-making. They also highlighted the importance of learning from the experiences of former referees, such as Gihad Gresha and Wagih Ahmed, who offered many suggestions that could help enhance refereeing standards.


Overall, the goal of the meeting is to improve the efficiency of video technology in refereeing matches, avoid mistakes that could impact match results, and raise the overall level of the local competition in Egypt.
